We are partnering with a customs brokerage organisation who is seeking a Customs Coordinator to join their team in Chelmsford.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all import and export activities comply with relevant customs laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Prepare and submit required documentation for customs clearance, including but not limited to customs declarations, invoices, and shipping manifests.
- Accurately classify imported and exported goods according to tariff schedules and customs regulations.
- Calculate and verify duties, taxes, and fees owed on imported and exported goods.
- Assess and mitigate potential risks related to customs compliance, including duty drawback programs, preferential trade agreements, and customs valuation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding customs-related matters, providing guidance and assistance as needed.
- Communicate effectively with government agencies, such as customs authorities and border protection agencies, to resolve issues and ensure compliance.
- Stay informed about changes in customs regulations and policies, and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct internal audits and reviews to ensure compliance with customs regulations and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide training and guidance to staff members and clients on customs compliance procedures and best practices.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of experience working within customs
- In-depth knowledge of customs laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with international trade agreements and customs compliance best practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
