An established building services and sustainability company is looking for an Energy Solutions Engineer to join their team in Japan. This position will work remotely from home or shared office. 

The Asia team is based in Japan and operates in various regions in Asia. The ideal candidate must be able to travel in Asia without restrictions. 

The Energy Solutions Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to: 
  • Visit client’s building facilities in Asia and conduct the assessments to find out the solutions for energy saving.
  • Managing and implementing projects across Asia.
  • Organize travel plans as needed to accomplish site visits and attend meetings. 
  • Conduct an analysis of current building systems and gather utility data to assess energy use and efficiency. 
  • Analysis of the possibilities for solar PV.
  • Prioritize the renovation of the buildings.
  • Maintain interaction with building facilities staff on-site.
  • Review the project and meet regularly with stakeholders, property management companies, designers, and vendors.
  • Evaluate or recommend supply-side energy procurement techniques, demand-response technology, commercial-scale renewable energy and CHP systems.
  • Assure that the owner's requests are thoroughly recorded, make sure that initial budgets are optimized, and improve water and energy efficiency by offering professional advice.
  • Energy management procedures for building management systems must be written and installed.
  • Examine and verify various energy savings calculations, and train other employees on how to use HVAC, lights, fans, air compression, pumps, and industrial processes in the most effective ways.
  • Prepare and present at conferences and training sessions for business partners, clients, and other attendees.

Interested? We are looking for someone who has:
  • At least 7 years of related experience performing energy efficiency projects and managing project teams. 
  • Strong written and verbal English and Japanese communication skills. Any additional Asian language is a plus.
  • Must be a citizen of or have permanent right to work in either Japan, Hong Kong, or China. 
  • Licensed Equipment Architect or Fire Protection Engineer is preferred.
  • Professional membership of relevant institution is preferred (e.g., Energy Institute).
  • Good knowledge of ASHRAE 90.1 or BS16247 EN Standard.
  • Qualified BREEAM Assessor or LEED AP is a plus.
