We are partnering with a leading freight forwarder who are seeking a Freight Forwarding Coordinator to join their team in Rotterdam.
In this role, you will assist the project team by providing support to ensure the smooth execution of projects. You will help tackle logistics challenges and contribute to optimizing supply chain operations to enhance overall efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure shipment documents are checked for customs, permits, and license requirements.
- Confirm import customs clearance regulations and required documentation in accordance with destination requirements.
- Update IT systems as needed for KPIs and compliance procedures.
- Oversee and coordinate global teams to ensure delivery dates are met.
- Provide clients and sites with updates on shipment locations, transit times, and delivery schedules.
- Communicate with site teams regarding order changes, issues, or special delivery requirements.
- Coordinate with internal support teams to relay all operational updates.
- Manage and monitor all EDI interfaces with logistics, expediting, and material inspection teams.
- Ensure global teams comply with operational documentation requirements as per the Scope of Work (SOW).
- Maintain an updated project Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to provide guidance on documentation requirements.
- Ensure all project documentation is filed securely and confidentially.
- Oversee invoicing, ensuring it is accurately rated, issued on time, and in line with the SOW.
- Verify that local governmental regulations, permits, and licenses are valid and adhered to during documentation preparation.
- Provide training and support to teams on creating compliant documentation and invoices.
- Manage vendors and global project teams to ensure documentation standards are followed in accordance with agreed KPIs.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., business administration, project management) or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience as an Operator or Team Lead in Freight Forwarding.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies and best practices.
- Familiarity with specialized equipment, including multi-axle trailers and self-propelled modular transporters, as well as a working knowledge of customs procedures for oversized cargo, is highly preferred.
- Solid understanding of transportation regulations, particularly for oversize and heavy haul shipments.
