Responsibilities:
- Accountability for Global Wine Team’s profit and loss including forecasting and budgeting for yearly sales.
- Managing recruitment, development, engagement and performance of the Global Wine Department.
- Collaborating with the Client Development Team to create a worldwide client growth strategy, and with the Regional Managing Directors to build plans to promote new business prospects for the department.
- Working as the senior international business developer to meet the department sales budgets set for each region.
- Sourcing Wine for sales in the UK, US, Asia & Europe offices.
- Overseeing online wine auctions.
- Keep in touch with established wine collectors to encourage future business with the company, whether as buyers or sellers.
- Keep in touch with established trade contacts to encourage future business with the company.
- Keeping an up-to-date database of customers – both buyers and sellers of wine – for the Global Wine department.
- Support with global exhibition events as needed.
- Remain aware of competitors’ strategies in order to stay ahead of the market.
- Promote the Global Wine department at events.
- Encourage team development and learning.
- Valuate customers property both in the office and at other locations as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Chief Marketing Office to produce marketing campaigns for the Global Wine Department.
Requirements:
- Good time management and organisation abilities.
- 10-15 years’ experience with wine sales ideally within an auction house setting.
- Experience with online wine auctions an advantage.
- Strong sales and pipeline management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexibility and the capacity to work well with others.
- Capable of working under pressure and under tight deadlines; knowledge of the Spirit trade within a global auction house is advantageous.
- Proficiency in a European language is advantageous.
- Proficient word processing abilities and familiarity with Excel and Microsoft.
