Responsibilities:
- Lead by example and effectively oversee the Arms and Armour team to enhance team productivity
- Provide timely support for cataloguing and production of the catalogues to fulfil printing and distribution deadlines
- Assist with cataloguing for all sales
- Keep in touch with collectors and those who have established collections in the Arms and Armour area
- Ensure budgeted commission levels are reached
- Maintain a positive relationship with trade and professional associations to help the department grow
- Proactively seek out new business
- Build a database of buyers and vendors
- Make sure the department complies with all contractual obligations to buyers and vendors
- Entertain customers when necessary
- Oversee the department's budget and spending in a way that maximises benefits
Skills Required:
- Demonstrated expertise in Arms and Armour and/or the auction business
- Unrivalled knowledge of Arms and Armour, including swords, daggers, armour, pistols, muskets, militaria/uniforms, cannons etc
- Connections with reputable dealers and collectors in the Arms and Armour market
- The capacity to travel as needed to accomplish objectives
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and networking skills
- IT proficient
