Alchemy has partnered with an international removal company in their search for an Operations Director to oversee their location based in Kent.

As the Operations Director, you will be responsible for supervising and enhancing every facet of the moving and logistics operations.

Duties & responsibilities for the Operations Director:
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the removal company's Move Managers, setting clear goals and objectives and ensuring they are met, creating a culture of self-improvement, excellence, and accountability.
  • Cultivating and sustaining long-term relationships with removal clients, key vendors, and customers. 
  • As the primary point of contact, respond to the removal client's inquiries, concerns, and preferences in a timely and discrete manner. 
  • Exceed removal client's expectations by providing personalised service and customised solutions. 
  • Create and implement customised solutions that meet the needs of the removal clients. 
  • Ensure that all aspects of the move, from packing to transportation and unpacking follows strict quality standards.
  • Frequently assess and enhance operational processes to increase efficiency, lower costs, and increase removal customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, third-party suppliers, and client contacts to ensure flawless execution of each project.
  • Develop and oversee project timelines and budgets. 
  • Conduct regular quality checks, identify areas for improvement, and take corrective action as soon as possible. 
  • Supervise resource allocation, including equipment, vehicles, and staff, to maximise utilisation and minimise downtime.
  • Use data to make informed decisions and drive operational improvements by defining key performance indicators (KPIs).

Requirements & Skills:
  • A bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a comparable field is required (a master's degree is preferred).
  • 5+ years of management experience within the domestic and international HHG sectors are required.
  • Knowledge of moving and logistics industry safety regulations, imports and exports, duties and taxes, and best practices.
  • Solid leadership abilities, as well as tenacity and personal integrity.
  • Excellent organisational, time management, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work and remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Deliver first-rate customer service to the most demanding of clients.
