Role and Responsibilities
- Assure excellent client service by performing valuations at the auction house, in clients' homes, and at other locations.
- Make assessments for different classifications, such as official evaluations for insurance and probate needs.
- Have a major part in establishing rapport with clients and turning appraisal opportunities into profitable sales.
- Closely collaborate with specialised departments to complete appraisals and prepare shipments for sale.
- Throughout the appraisal and sales process, manage relationships well to guarantee client satisfaction.
- Uphold the highest standards of investigation and production for formal insurance and probate valuations.
Requirements
- Five years minimum of experience working in an auction house.
- Applicants may come from a single speciality background or have general valuation experience.
- The capacity to recognise and appreciate a wide variety of applied and fine arts.
- Ability to learn new things and work on multi-category valuation projects.
- A track record of effectively negotiating with clients.
- Broad understanding of the art market, including the standards and practices of the auction industry.
- Competence with computers and related software.
- While not necessary, having a second language is preferred.
- a strong entrepreneurial spirit combined with a "can-do" mentality that makes them feel confident working independently and in a team environment.
- A natural ability to forge close bonds with internal specialised teams and private and fiduciary clients.
- The capacity to manage a heavy workload and set priorities.
- Excellent precision and meticulousness.
- Comfortable in various environments, whether a warehouse or a manor house.
