Strategic leadership and operational management of our client’s moving logistics functions are crucially dependent on the Director Of Logistics. This position, which directly reports to the Vice President/General Manager, requires the successful candidate to fill in for them while they are not present.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with the VP/General Manager on the Logistics Division's strategic initiatives, inspire creativity and excellence in the team, and advocate for process enhancements to boost productivity and cut expenses.
- Oversee moving logistics operations, measure performance indicators, and enforce rules to ensure efficiency and compliance in distribution, warehousing, and transportation.
- Develop trusting connections within the moving industry with suppliers and bargain for fair terms in contracts to guarantee both efficiency and quality.
- Evaluate supplier performance often to make adjustments.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing to draw in and hold onto moving customers by modifying your approach in response to consumer demands and industry developments.
- Uphold quality standards in the provision of moving services, carry out audits, and focus on remediating operational flaws and client complaints.
- Manage financial performance, oversee resource allocation and budgeting, and assist with strategic financial planning and analysis.
- Make sure departments work together and that stakeholder communications are clear to resolve conflicts and provide updates on progress.
- To proactively handle upcoming difficulties, identify supply chain risks, create mitigation plans, and stay up to date on the moving industry and regulatory developments.
Skills and qualifications required:
- Must be able to handle the pressure that comes with having a job with this kind of responsibility.
- Previous experience within the moving and relocation industry
- Needs to be capable of making decisions and managing time.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is a minimum prerequisite (Advanced proficiency or above is desired).
- Familiarity with high-value goods, freight, and general commodities, including hazardous items (HAZMAT).
- Capacity to bargain with service suppliers for lower prices.
- Capacity to organise, and oversee precise asset management (commodity warehouse inventories, both receiving and releasing from any facility used by the organisation).
