The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, have extensive knowledge on Old Master paintings, the art market and is confident in searching for and developing new business.
Responsibilities:
- Develop business leads, support department growth, and maintain commercial awareness.
- Provide valuation and advice services for Old Master, British, Modern, European Paintings and Contemporary Art.
- Lead the sale process: research, catalogue, condition report, and lot items.
- Respond promptly to electronic valuation requests and participate in valuation events.
- Conduct insurance and probate valuations, ensuring market accuracy and legal compliance.
- Assist in auction planning and presentation, including social media content creation.
- Adhere to internal policies, including Data Protection and AML requirements.
- Liaise with clients, foster relationships, and manage consignments.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in an auction house or similar valuation service.
- Knowledge of artists, picture values, and art markets.
- Strong organisational, communication, and client relationship skills.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and flexible.
- Experience with external partners.
- Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
- Driving license and vehicle desirable due to location of site.
