Job Description

Alchemy has an incredible opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to join a global shipping company in Heathrow as a Credit Controller. You will work closely with the sales & operations teams to put in place an efficient credit control system, and you will have a significant impact on increasing revenue and reducing credit risk.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing client accounts by ensuring that any problems and inquiries were properly handled and immediately and effectively addressed to prevent payment delays.

  • Lowering debts and DSO to a target monthly minimum.

  • Ensuring that goals are attained and that payments are made on schedule.

  • Creating an analysis of bad debts and advising the finance director on potential write-offs for bad debts.

  • In charge of all accounts receivable general ledger reconciliation for the month-end closure procedure.

  • Weekly multi-currency bank reconciliations.

  • Reconciliation of monthly FX revaluations to the trial balance.

  • Creating ad hoc reports, reports for the finance director, and daily reports for cash flow forecasting.

  • Charged for opening consumer credit accounts and monitoring them to make sure they don't go over their credit limits.

  • Recognising accounts that needed special resolutions by speaking with the sales representative or referring them to management for a just resolution.

  • Keeping accurate and current records of client information and account information.

  • Evaluating the creditworthiness of potential and current consumers.

  • Knowledge of funding invoices and attaining collection goals.

Requirements:

  • Previous credit controller experience is essential.

  • Having experience managing at least 500 AR accounts is required.

  • Experience with a freight forwarding company is pivotal.

  • Understanding Cargo Wise or comparable systems is crucial.

  • A bachelor's degree in either accounting, finance, business, mathematics, or a closely connected discipline.

  • Strong organisational, communication, and collaboration abilities.

  • Excellent analytical abilities and focus on detail.

  • A demonstrated history of making wise credit choices.

  • Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.

  • Experience entering and analysing data.

  • Capacity to function under pressure.
