Gallery Assistant

A New York Gallery are looking for an enthusiastic Gallery Assistant to join their expanding team! 

This role would be suitable for a candidate looking to step up within a Gallery, specifically within the operational and logistical field. 

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Provide administrative support to Gallery Director & Operations team.
  • Assist with preparations for exhibitions and art fairs.
  • Manage and maintain Gallery Library inventory (log incoming / outgoing titles, oversee display and placement of books).
  • Assist with Front Desk duties (field incoming calls, greeting visitors, maintain exhibition materials & print-outs).
  • Coordinate catalogue mailing and distribution with sales team.
  • Assist with gallery openings and events (transport & event logistics).
  • Manage the galleries inventory database.
  • Assist with the daily upkeep of the gallery.
  • Liaise with the logistics team regarding the best quotes on international and domestic shipping.
  • Produce all documentation for shipments, updating the galleries system with documents and shipment records.
Required skills: 
  • Experience of working in a Gallery or Auction House or similar organisation is essential.
  • Experience carrying out artwork shipments is required for this position.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Fine Art industry is required.
  • Willing to attend art fairs and client meetings when needed.
  • Previous inventory management skills
