Ocean Import Coordinator

Job Description

We are working with an organization that is looking for an Ocean Import Coordinator in New York.

The main purpose of the Operations Analyst will oversee and monitor transportation operations both incoming and outbound.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult with logistics management teams to figure out how to improve service levels, maintain supply-chain efficiency, and cut costs
  • Coordinate Ocean Freight shipments
  • Update and populate systems, as well as track shipments
  • Maintain logistical information databases
  • Manage import shipments and full documentation
  • Prepare all necessary shipment documentation, such as BLs, PODs, commercial invoices
  • Organize routes, monitor carrier payments, and resolve customer-carrier issues
  • Monitor and support container movements on maritime and in-land freight channels (rail and truck)
  • Ensure carrier adherence to customer specifications
  • As required by the customer, provide delivery updates and history
  • Respond to customers promptly via email and phone

Requirements:

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Outlook
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented aptitude
  • High degree of accuracy is required
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively, set priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to learn and adapt to change
  • Desire/ability to work successfully in a small company
