Alchemy has an exciting opportunity with one of the world’s leading International Auction Houses who are searching for a Specialist in Whisky to join their team in Hong Kong.  
The Whisky Specialist will be reporting to the International Head of Wine & Spirits, and will have the opportunity to travel Asia, and potentially the UK and USA! 
As Whisky Specialist you will:
  • Acquire business for the Luxury Spirits and Wine department within the Region to ensure sales targets are met
  • Work closely with stakeholders on strategies, customer development, advertisement, and marketing campaigns locally and regionally
  • Maintain and develop the existing Client database, specifically speaking with the established Collectors, and Trade Contacts to generate more business
  • Carry out valuation of consignment 
  • Manage the allowance account, including re-offers from settlement forms 
  • Assist with the production of Spirit catalogues in a timely manner, including English and Mandarin Language
  • Assist the functioning of exhibition events in Hong Kong
  • Monitor competitors’ strategies to maintain the competitive position our client holds within the industry
  • Boost the promotion of the department through promotional events, lectures and marketing
  • Support departmental administrative responsibilities where required
Skills Required:
  • Degree or equivalent 
  • Chinese Language (Mandarin) & English Language
  • Market and Trend awareness 
  • Previous auction experience within the Luxury Spirits market would be advantageous
  • Specialist experience with the Spirit industry, especially Whisky is essential
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work
  • Proven evaluation skills 
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to identify counterfeit bottles 
  • Portfolio of contacts or willingness to build one
  • Excellent time management and organisation 
  • Knowledge of the auction process and related procedures
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently  
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
