If you are an independent, organised project manager with a 5+ years experience within business intelligence or another field of consulting, such as strategy, management, regulatory, political risk or geopolitical consulting then this is the role for you!
Based in firms Tokyo office, the role will involve managing enhanced due diligence and strategic intelligence investigations across jurisdictions in the APAC region, with a focus on Japan.
Responsibilities include:
- Assessing potential commercial, regulatory, and political risks and opportunities.
- Identifying human sources of information from within the firms network and also externally.
- Drafting strategies to engage new sources.
- Developing an investigative plans to pursue multiple lines of enquiry through a combination of open-source research and human source enquiries.
- Identifying, vetting, and cultivating a range of human sources across Japan and major Asian geographies.
- Oversee team operations including: managing analysts, senior analysts, and managers.
- Liaising with other members of the Asia team across the firms global offices.
- Developing training plans and initiatives
- Assisting with operational and business development
- Debriefing clients (private equity and multinational corporates)
- Preparing briefings for commercial audiences.
- Managing high-pressure client interactions in meetings with deal teams, legal teams and senior Executives.
- Drafting written reports for clients, which includes synthesising, analysing, and creating value from intelligence sources.
- Identifying and benchmarking risks and opportunities within the context of a wider sector or geography.
- Presenting clearly structured, narrative-driven reports to a commercial audience.
Required Qualifications & Capabilities
- Fluency in English (written and verbal)
- Professional working proficiency in Japanese language
- Experience and cultural awareness of working in Japan with Japanese corporate clients.
- At least 5 years professional experience in the business intelligence industry, or a relevant industry such as strategy and management, regulatory, or political risk and geopolitical consulting.
- Commercial awareness and some exposure to commercial, regulatory, and political risks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- A self-starter mentality and ability to produce high-quality deliverables with minimal oversight.
- Experience of living and working in Japan would be an advantage.
