A growing strategic intelligence firm in Tokyo is seeking a Client Development Director. The firm provides a consulting service to business leaders and investors, providing strategic intelligence to enable them to make decisions around transactions, corporate movements, M&A, regulatory, policy, and senior appointments.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Professional to join a growing business in a specialist field. The Client Development Director role sits within the Business Development team and focuses on client management, developing existing client relationships, developing new business, and driving business development initiatives. This client-facing position plays a crucial role in fostering new and repeat business for the company.
This role will suit candidates acting as a trusted advisor from investment banking, advisory, consultancy backgrounds with an existing client network they can leverage from.

Role Responsibilities:.
In the role of Client Development Director, you will:

Identify and develop new business opportunities by engaging with existing clients and potential clients.
Lead reach out and communication to generate interest and build strong relationships.
Work with senior stakeholders and execution teams to manage existing client relationships during ongoing projects and beyond, maintaining relationships and identifying new opportunities for collaboration.
Continuously engage with existing clients to explore potential new work or reconnect with those who haven’t worked with the company recently.
Presenting at board level and to c-suite.
Support the execution team in managing projects, including communicating findings and managing client expectations.
Handle administrative tasks related to business development, including reporting on meetings and client engagements, and actively participating in Business Development meetings.

Experience required:
Native-level or professional proficiency in Japanese and fluency in English.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with senior executives across various industries.
Proven track record in client engagement, ideally in business development & deal origination, within corporate banking, consultancy, advisory, finance, law, policy, or intelligence.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with global teams.
Background in roles involving direct client interaction and relationship management.
