Alchemy is partnering with an established logistics & freight forwarding company looking for a Business Development Manager to join their growing team.

You’ll play a key role in identifying new business opportunities and growing our import sea freight services, working closely with sales and operations to develop new client relationships and maximise revenue. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in freight forwarding and a proven track record of selling import FCL services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, target and secure new business opportunities within the freight forwarding and logistics market.
  • Drive sales of import sea freight and FCL services to new and existing customers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients to maximise revenue and customer satisfaction.
  • Arrange and conduct client meetings, sales visits, networking activities and other business development opportunities.
  • Develop tailored sales presentations and commercial proposals based on customer requirements.
  • Manage your own sales pipeline, appointments and activity to ensure consistent business development.
  • Work closely with internal sales and operations teams to deliver effective solutions and a high level of customer service.
  • Maintain accurate client and activity records through the company CRM, including visit reports.
  • Track and report on sales performance against agreed KPIs, including profit generation, sales activity and client visits.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing customer relationships and increase share of wallet.

Requirements
  • Proven experience in a business development or sales role within freight forwarding or logistics.
  • Demonstrable track record of selling import FCL / sea freight services.
  • Strong understanding of international freight forwarding, transportation and global logistics.
  • Proactive and commercially focused approach to business development.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Confident engaging with customers by phone, face-to-face and through networking.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to manage your own workload, sales pipeline and appointments.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK as required.
