Our client, a fast growing freight forwarder is looking to hire a Freight Specialist to be based out of their office in Chelmsford, Essex.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee day-to-day freight forwarding operations, with a strong focus on deep-sea shipments
- Handle ocean, air, road, project and breakbulk freight activities
- Maintain regular communication with clients, providing timely updates throughout key stages of their shipment's journey
- Negotiate transportation costs with haulage providers and arrange final delivery of goods in a timely and cost-efficient manner
- Input booking information into logistics systems, ensuring accuracy of shipment records and supporting files
- Create and issue financial documents including customer invoices and internal cost breakdowns for reporting and reconciliation
- Follow up on outstanding supplier invoices and resolve any billing discrepancies or queries
Requirements:
- 10+ years Freight Forwarding experience
- Strong knowledge across ocean, air, road, project or breakbulk freight
- Some deep sea experience is required
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Excellent customer service skills required
- Strong IT skills, ideally with some freight forwarding software experience
