Accountancy Manager (Fluent English & French)

Our client, is looking for a new Accounting Manager to join their team in Rotterdam.

This position's primary tasks include managing the timely and accurate processing of transactions/journals for month-end, quarter-end, and annual reporting, as well as dealing with financial enquiries. The role will be fast-paced so the successful candidate needs to be able to successfully manage multiple tasks at the same time.

Key Duties:
  • Include a close checklist that is signed and dated no later than the 6th business day after the prior month's end / the 8th business day after the prior quarter's end.
  • Prepare and check the entity's monthly trial balance.
  • Assist in the creation of graphs displaying major account trends.
  • Revenue Recognition Coordination
  • Maintaining journals for accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, salaries, and other balance sheet transactions.
  • Examine any discrepancies between monthly actuals and budget.
  • Printing monthly manual journal, with supporting documentation such as narratives outlining their purpose attached. To maintain segregation of roles and accuracy of entries being submitted to GL, signatures of the preparer and one up reviewer must be noted on JEs.
  • Within 30 days of closing, all needed accounts (all PeopleSoft level balance sheet accts over $25k) must be reconciled monthly (not quarterly).
  • Prior to closing, all unresolved differences in excess of $25k must be examined and documented.
  • Signatures of the preparer and reviewer are required on reconciliations, using a standard account reconciliation form for this.
  • External audit coordination and statutory annual report preparation
  • Assist with internal audits so that queries can be answered quickly and effectively.
  • Prepare and submit to the Finance Director all Financial Statement information, including closure procedures, manual JEs, and account reconciliations, quarterly within 30 days of the quarter's end.
  • Calculate and explain account fluctuation for all your entity accounts that exceed the $ and percent thresholds, noting any items of concern or unexpected entries. Describe the differences between budgeted and actual quantities.
  • Ensure that all books and records are kept in line with corporate and division accounting policies as well as local statutory accounting policies.
  • VAT filing and reporting
  • In coordination with the Global Tax team, corporation tax reporting and filing
  • Compiling and filing local statutory data, as well as submitting the statutory yearly report to company houses
  • Various other accounting-related duties, including as managing and directing the work of staff accountants (whether they report to you directly, indirectly not report to you)

Key Qualifications & Skills:
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in equivalent jobs, preferably as an Accounting Manager or Controller.
  • BA with a focus on Accountancy is desired, and CPA would be beneficial
  • Fluency in French and knowledge of French statutory reporting.
  • Financial ledger applications (ideally Navision and Oracle PeopleSoft), as well as journal preparation and posting.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical abilities are required.
  • Advanced Excel skills (fluent with pivot tables and formulas such as VLOOKUP and IF statements) are required to manipulate, analyse, and report data gathered from diverse systems.
  • Excellent writing and spoken communication skills are essential (English & French)
  • Must be well-organized, able to work as part of a team, self-motivated, and quality-oriented.
