Alchemy is supporting a leading International Moving & Relocation service provider their search for a Moving Department Manager to join their team in Tokyo, Japan.

The Household Goods Moving Department Manager will be responsible for managing the moving services department across international, domestic and local household goods moving services. 

We are seeking an experience moving professional capable of handling inbound moving services and leading the moving department.

Responsibilities of the Household Goods Moving Department Manager:

  • Manage household goods moving department, ensuring the team is providing high levels of service to both individual and corporate clients
  • Directly manage and handle inbound moves and manage the process door to door
  • Arrange logistical requirements for household goods shipments for local, domestic and international moves
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the household goods moving department
  • Serve as the go to point of contact for escalated issue for the moving team and clients
  • Work closely with vendors and suppliers to ensure performance, pricing and services exceed standards
  • Manage all aspects of pricing, including RFP pricing, agent quotes, local quotes, agent tariff
  • Supervise surveyors to ensure maximization of local bookings
  • Partner with the General Manager on revenue forecasting, new staff hiring etc.
  • Review and evaluate the strengths and areas for improvement within the department, and implement process improvements 
  • Develop new and innovative services for the company to ensure they remain a leader in the household goods moving industry 
  • Ensure consistently high levels of service delivery to clients and achieve operational excellence 
  • Provide support to sales and business development teams when required

Requirements of the Household Goods Moving Department Manager:

  • Management experience within the household goods moving, relocation and/or logistics sector
  • Experience managing a team of staff, with a collaborative and transparent management style
  • Committed to driving continuous improvement in all areas of the moving department and able to manage change
  • Strong hand on experience coordination door to door moves and relocations
  • Passionate about the global mobility, moving and relocation sector
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Fluency in English and Japanese
