Selling commercial moving services is about understanding a customer's project, not just providing a price. Office relocations involve deadlines, building access, multiple stakeholders and plenty of planning before the first piece of furniture is moved.
Moving industry experience would be ideal, but it isn't essential. We're also interested in speaking with sales professionals from commercial real estate, property management and construction, as well as people with a project management background who have the commercial skills to move into sales.
The role:
You'll be responsible for finding new business, developing relationships with prospective customers and turning commercial moving enquiries into confirmed projects. A large part of the job will involve getting out into the market, meeting businesses, understanding their relocation plans and identifying where moving services are needed.
You'll also be involved in:
- Building relationships with property managers, commercial real estate contacts, businesses and other potential referral sources.
- Identifying upcoming office moves, business relocations and commercial moving projects.
- Meeting customers to understand the scope, timing and requirements of their move.
- Working with internal teams to prepare quotations and proposals.
- Following up on enquiries, negotiating agreements and securing new business.
- Maintaining customer relationships and identifying opportunities for future projects.
Where your experience fits:
- If you've sold commercial moving services before, you'll already understand the importance of accurate estimates, realistic schedules and keeping operations informed about what has been promised.
- However, someone from commercial real estate or property management could bring valuable contacts and an understanding of how businesses plan and manage premises changes.
- Construction and project management experience could also translate well, particularly where you've been involved in coordinating contractors, managing customer relationships or delivering projects against deadlines.
Whatever your background, you'll need to be comfortable developing new business, speaking with decision-makers and taking responsibility for your sales activity.
