Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process import and export customs documentation for fine art shipments
- Ensure compliance with international customs regulations, tariffs, and licensing for artworks
- Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and regulatory bodies to ensure timely clearances
- Classify artworks using appropriate HS codes and apply relevant duty exemptions
- Monitor and manage temporary import/export regimes.
- Advise internal teams and clients on customs procedures, documentation requirements, and restrictions
- Liaise with registrars, museums, galleries, and private collectors to gather accurate shipment information
- Track and resolve customs holds, inspections, or discrepancies to minimise shipment delays
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global trade regulations specific to art and cultural property
- Maintain detailed records for audits and internal reporting purposes
- Support the logistics team with documentation for multi-modal transport (air, sea, and road)
- Contribute to the development of customs compliance policies
- Proven experience in customs clearance, preferably within the fine art, luxury, or high-value goods sector
- In-depth knowledge of international trade laws, customs regulations, and tariff classifications
- Familiarity with cultural property export/import restrictions and CITES documentation.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously
- Proficiency with customs and logistics platforms
- Knowledge of Incoterms and international shipping practices
