Our client is hiring a manager to join their Strategic Intelligence team for the Europe region based in London. The successful candidate will independently manage strategic intelligence projects, including reputational, commercial and policy/regulatory intelligence investigations, leveraging the firm’s global human source network. They seek a strong analytical thinker with high levels of commercial awareness. Successful candidates will have 3-5 years of professional experience, including at least 2 years of experience managing projects in the business intelligence sector or another field of consulting, including strategy and management, regulatory, or political risk and geopolitical consulting.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for independently managing strategic intelligence investigations across the Europe region, including:
- Deciding on and structuring lines of inquiry based on their assessment of potential commercial, regulatory and political risks and opportunities.
- Identifying human sources in and outside of the firm’s network and drafting strategies to engage relevant sources.
- Defining, supporting and/or enabling requirements for research of open sources, and overseeing Analysts conducting the research.
- Assessing the credibility and provenance of human source intelligence.
- Debriefing clients (mainly private equity and multinational corporates).
- Preparing verbal briefings tailored to commercial audiences following consulting best practices.
- Managing high-pressure client interactions in meetings with deal teams, legal teams and/or C-suites.
- Drafting written deliverables for clients, which includes: Synthesising, analysing and creating value from intelligence sources.
- Identifying and benchmarking risks and opportunities within the context of a wider sector or geography.
- Presenting clearly structured, narrative-driven reports to a commercial audience.
- Developing intelligence source networks, i.e. Identifying, vetting and cultivating relationships with prospective human sources across several geographies and sectors, and contributing to the team’s source development strategy.
Qualifications & capabilities
- Fluency in English at the highest level of written and verbal communication.
- 3-5 years of professional experience, with at least 2 years of leading (workstreams of) consulting projects and producing commercial, regulatory and/or political analysis.
- Foundational understanding of the main business, political and regulatory trends across Europe.
- Preferred: fluency in another European language, such as French, Italian, etc.
