At Alchemy we are working with a contemporary art and design gallery who are seeking a Sales Assistant to join its London team. The successful candidate will have 1–3 years’ experience within a commercial gallery or comparable art-world environment, and will support sales activity, client engagement, and the smooth day-to-day running of the gallery.
Working closely with senior colleagues, this role requires a high level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail, alongside a strong interest in contemporary art and the gallery sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Support sales administration, including maintaining and updating client records and artwork information using Artlogic
- Assist with client communications and respond to general sales enquiries
- Act as front of house, welcoming visitors and confidently providing information on artworks and artists
- Assist with the planning, installation, and deinstallation of exhibitions
- Support the organisation of private views, events, and participation in art fairs
- Provide general administrative, logistical, and operational support to the gallery team
- Assist with basic logistics tasks, including tracking shipments, preparing documentation, and condition checking works
Requirements:
- 1–3 years’ experience in a commercial gallery or related art-world role
- Professional, polished, and discreet client-facing manner
- Strong interest in contemporary art and the gallery ecosystem
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with Artlogic and ArtAML procedures preferred
- Additional languages advantageous
