We have a new opportunity available in Houston, Texas, for an experienced Accountant to join our client and global HR company.

This role requires a strong background in payroll accounting tasks, including preparing payroll journal entries and reconciling multiple payroll-related accounts. 

You will need experience in tax reporting, as well as preparing, reviewing, and coordinating tax-related documents and schedules in response to requests from the external CPA firm.

The Accountant will be responsible for ensuring compliance with US GAAP, supporting audits, and working closely with operations and project teams to deliver timely and accurate financial information.

Main responsibilities of the Accountant role include:
  • Maintaining the bank relations.
  • Tax & Reporting.
  • Regulatory reporting across state, regional and country requirements.
  • Preparing, reviewing and coordinating tax-related documents and schedules in response to requests from the external CPA office.
  • Managing payroll reporting, journal entries, reports and account reconciliations.
  • Performing balance sheet variance analysis.
  • Statutory reporting/Financial Analysis/Audit.
  • Supporting audit processes and statutory financial reporting.
  • Regional compliance.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Maintaining the Fixed Asset register and depreciation schedules.
  • Assist in preparing audit schedules and support external audits.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities within the accounting function.
  • Ensuring regional financial compliance across applicable jurisdictions.
  • Comply with information security regulations, principles and obligations in line with ISO, with emphasis on continued learning as technology changes.
  • Maintain software and data encryption in line with compliance and relevant data protection laws globally, and ensure the safety, integrity, and accountability of all the data handled.

Qualifications and skills required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required); MBA or CPA preferred.
  • 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within services or consulting environments.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP accounting standards, including revenue recognition.
  • Experience with project accounting and billing cycles.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP.
  • Experience with accounting and ERP systems such as Sage, Workday, NetSuite, Oracle, SAP or similar platforms.
  • Experience in professional services organisations is preferred.
  • Experience supporting financial audits is preferred.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
