Do you have the operational and dispatch experience to oversee residential moves across the Norfolk area?

Right now, we’re working with a great moving and relocation company based in Norfolk, VA, who are seeking a brand-new Residential Operations Manager role to join their expanding team. Overseeing both operations and dispatch, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, ensuring that the residential moving projects are organised, efficient and to the high-quality standards expected of the clients. 

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Scheduling and dispatching crews and drivers, ensuring that all shipments are properly registered, assigned and picked up. 
  • Hiring and training new crew members, as well as payroll and paperwork processing.
  • Overseeing the daily residential moving operations, ensuring that the moves are completed on time and in a safe manner. 
  • Speaking directly with customers regarding scheduling updates and unexpected delays. 
  • Working with customer service teams, estimators and third parties to ensure clear move coordination and customer support. 
  • Monitoring vehicles and equipment for maintenance and repairs, including fuel auditing logs.
  • Ensuring that all company policies and procedures are being followed, and that the warehouse is maintaining health and safety standards. 

The ideal candidate for this role has:
  • Previous Residential Operations Manager or similar experience in the moving and relocation sector. 
  • A strong understanding of both residential moving processes and dispatching.
  • Experience with fleet scheduling and route planning.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, working with multiple teams on multiple projects at once. 
  • Ability to lift 50lbs when required.
